What is the history of humanism in the Netherlands? The Secular Club of the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, invited President Boris van der Ham for a lecture in Beirut.

On invitation by Ernst Huijer Boris van der Ham, president of the humanist Association visited the American University in Beirut (AUB). He gave two lectures to students and talked with academics at the university. He also visited a number of free-thinking organizations in Beirut. His first lecture was about the "permissiveness of Dutch law" . Van der Ham spoke about the long history of liberal legislation in the Netherlands with regard to drugs and sexuality. He did this in response to his book 'the Free Moral'.
